The Tai Chi Fundamentals 6 Day Retreat, taught by the Head Instructor Rick Attix, is held the 1st week of every month. The focus of the retreat is awareness and development of the underlaying essence of the internal martial arts: the dynamic universal energy 'Chi'.
In the morning session, Rick will teach fundamental postures with emphasis on movement from deep within the pelvis; known in Chinese as the ‘kwah’. He will also teach breathing Qi Gong techniques to open the internal energy channels essential for correct Tai Chi practice.
Rick will then introduce soft body core and mind stillness exercises found in the Pac Qua Circle Walking and Push Hands practice. The internal soft ‘soong’ body core sense will then be introduced into the Yang Style Cheng Man-Ch’ing 37 Tai Chi form.
In the afternoon session Rick will invite everyone into the healing meditation pyramid. During the first hour, he will introduce the Taoist Internal Qi Development Meditation created to open the internal energy channels in the body. The remainder of the time will be spent at the student’s leisure, either in personal meditation or simply lying back on the pillows and drifting away to the soft, melodic chants of sacred China and India.
