“For the ultimate Tai Chi experience, the Tai Chi Center is a must!
Whether you are a beginner or an advanced practitioner, Rick’s understanding
of Tai Chi is excellent. I loved the whole experience and definitely will be back.”
Ina Pietschmann – Germany
“Since I was young, I have been interested in Martial Arts, especially Tai Chi, as a profound way of life as explained in an ancient Chinese saying: “Stillness in Movement,Movement in Stillness”. Before I met Rick I never tried Tai Chi before, but loved it from the first day of practice. The emphasis in Rick’s class is the softness in every sequence of the form in order to help us to better understand the softness inside. When we do the form together, teacher and students, a wonderful feeling arises which I keep inside me during the rest of the day.”

“Learning Tai Chi in Phuket has without a doubt changed my life. Rick Attix is a dedicated, highly skilled Tai Chi practitioner. He is a visionary and has created an oasis of peace and serenity here on the island of Phuket. I came for the 6 day retreat and ended up staying the month! His instruction and attention to detail, combined with a sense of fun, ensures that students of all levels and abilities experience the magic of this wonderful Cheng Man Ch’ing 37 Movement Tai Chi Form. Without a doubt I will return yearly to continue this amazing journey!! Thanks Rick!”

“As a Christian, I have enjoyed the experience of Tai Chi. I appreciate that it gives me better balance and the body becomes stronger and softer at the same time. The Tai Chi classes have also made it easier to focus. It’s fun and interesting and not in the least, I’ve made new friends. I gladly recommend Rick Attix and his Tai Chi classes.”

“Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of Tai Chi Ch’uan is the continuing journey of self-discovery through gentle, natural rhythmic movement and optimal body alignment, resulting in great health, vitality and overall awareness of one’s own potential.Rick Attix creates an enthusiastic, supportive and professional learning environment that makes coming to his class in the garden pavilion a very pleasing and comforting experience. His easy-going style and relaxed demeanor provides the perfect atmosphere in which to get in touch with one’s own body through movements of the Tai Ch form and to advance at one’s own individual pace.At first, I was slightly prejudiced to the idea of a non-Chinese teaching essentially a deeply Chinese art form. I was nevertheless quite happily surprised to discover Rick to be a very effective and completely acceptable bridge between the masterful teachings of Cheng Man-ch’ing (through whom he was trained via Professor Cheng’s senior students in Penang Malaysia) and we westerners in Phuket. Rick’s competent knowledge and extensive experience makes him an ideal conduit to bring this great Chinese art form to people from other cultures and backgrounds.”

“Dear Rick, I would like to thank you for the Tai Chi lessons, which I enjoyed in your oasis in Kamala Phuket for many years now. Your experience of many years in classes, your methods of relaxation and sense of humor gives me a good feeling not only in my body but also in my mind and spirit. Through the connection of movement and peace, complete harmony arises in me after every class. Thank you.”

“For most of my life, I believed that chasing external goals and hard work would give me a good life. However a couple years ago I had anxiety problems and a complete breakdown. I started to change my life. This included training Tai Chi, meditation and reading a lot of books on Buddhism, Taoism, health & spiritual traditions. I also began studying with good Tai Chi instructors and other therapist. They gave me some help, but I felt that for the most part it was based only on concepts without substance. It all sounded good but I’d heard it before without receiving any true benefits.
When I started to train with Rick, I began to focus on my body without too much talk and intellectual speech making. It was easier to ground the practice while quieting my ‘judging, grasping, analyzing’ mind. Rick gave everyone individual practices in an easy manner to grasp the basic movements. I believe his wisdom in the art is so great that he doesn’t need to show himself as a great teacher. He gives total focus to the students. The energy in the class is light, with room for socializing and good jokes. The mixture of Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Meditation, and Chinese Herbal Medicine was perfect for me. I will be going back to Phuket and practice Tai Chi as often as I can.”

“Tai Chi, Tai Chi, with patience I learn your secrets.
I felt shy and awkward when I found you.
Your teacher and followers encouraged me,
each one said they looked like me in the beginning.
You have taught me to stretch, softly and fluidly.
Substantially gone is the rigidity, for we are not stiff Penguins.
Mind and muscle meld in movements which captivate the onlooker.
At sunset, I practice at the water’s edge.
My Tai Chi path is committed to my better health,
Without sport injury, one-sided exercise or over-exertion.
I am a Tai Chi athlete, for myself, at my pace.
Tai Chi, Tai Chi, I have changed my mind.
Gone is the delusion of warrior athlete of old,
Gone is procrastination due to boring exercise,
Tai Chi is a captivating answer to a flexible mind and body.
I learn your secrets in a garden sheltered from the elements.
Music of your origin softly fills the air.
We look onto the Pyramid, the teacher Rick’s meditation spot,
precious thoughts, experiences and interesting lighting objects within.
I stumbled into Tai Chi at the beginning, not knowing what to expect.
What I found, I’m happy with…doubly happy.
Tai Chi is a better way to a healthier body and mind.
Tai Chi in Phuket is the right place & the right time to start.
You will find patience, encouragement, good health and fulfillment.”
